The development and deployment of strategic submarine cable infrastructure - with enhanced resilience, security and route diversity - are key elements for that Cinia Oy, NORDUnet A/S, Tusass A/S, the Dutch Subsea Cable Coalition, GlobalConnect AB, and Tampnet AS have signed a European Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the parties jointly recognise the strategic value of establishing a Pan-Arctic Cable System (PACS) that will contribute to the global digital connectivity infrastructure.  This MoU affirms the continued interest of the Parties in establishing and executing a long-term strategy for jointly developing and implementing the plan for a pan-Arctic submarine cable system. The ambition of PACS is to create new critical routes between Europe and Asia via the Arctic and North America. PACS would substantially contribute to the resilience of the Internet at large and digital sovereignty and security of supply for the economies involved.  The Parties will develop the project with the ambition to have the PACS fully Ready for Service by the early 2030s, while some parts of system are planned to be in service earlier. The scope of planned collaboration between the parties includes activities such as e.g. technical and architectural planning, sales & marketing, funding, vendor strategy, cooperation with other parties in Europe, Asia and North America as well as potential creation of joint European entity (SPV) to promote the project activities. Pan-Arctic Cable System aims to fulfil the conditions for being labelled a Cable Project of European Interest (CPEI) as defined by the European Commission. The parties intend to pursue a long-term collaborative strategy and objectives for the benefit of critical submarine cable infrastructure.
