Cinia's C-Lion1 submarine cable has been repaired

The shunt fault in Cinia's C-Lion1 submarine cable has been repaired. The cable fault was minor and communications through the cable worked normally.

The damage to the submarine cable is suspected to have occurred on Sunday 26 January 2025 at 02:37 (EET). The damage was located between Gotland and Ventspils, in the same area where the damage was detected in the Swedish-Latvian communication cable. The repair work was completed on Friday 14 March 2025 at 12.41 (EET).

The repair of the submarine cable was completed on schedule. After locating the fault, the repair vessel Cable Vigilance left France and the repair work was quickly started.


C-Lion1 is a submarine telecommunications cable between Finland and Germany, owned by Cinia, with a length of 1173 kilometers. The submarine cable was commissioned in 2016 and connects Central European telecommunications networks to Finland and the other Nordic countries.
